The Broadband ReConnect Program furnishes loans and grants to provide funds for the costs of construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas. The ARC is supporting 11 projects in Georgia totaling nearly $3.2 million in fiscal year 2020. These investments have been matched by nearly $4.6 million and are attracting an additional $43 million in leveraged private investments in Georgia. They are also benefiting the 3.3 million residents in Georgia’s 37 Appalachian counties.
Business Programs provide financial backing and technical assistance to stimulate business creation and growth. The programs work through partnerships with public and private community based organizations and financial institutions to provide financial assistance, business development, and technical assistance to rural businesses. These programs help to provide capital, equipment, space, job training, and entrepreneurial skills that can help to start and/or grow a business.
The Housing Tax Credit Program allocates federal and state tax credits to owners of qualified rental properties who reserve all or a portion of their units for occupancy for low income tenants.
